Life after OJT

Is there life after OJT? The answer is yes. Are you one of the many who got through with an OJT contract? Maybe at a school, or some place else. Just a little advice, don't get comfortable.The provision of the OJT programme is very helpful for those who want real world work experience while earning a decent monthly income. The contract usually last fore two years and many have benefited from this very helpful provision. You should though keep on the search for something permanent.

Many get conformable, so comfortable that their two year contract comes to an end and they are frantic trying to secure a stable job.

The nice thing about being a part of the programme is that if you were to apply for a job, and the employer calls your supervisor to verify or for a performance report, they wont fire you. On the other hand if you are employed in the private sector and you current employer caught wind that you are seeking better opportunities they may not respond favorably.

So what should you do? You should try to get a permanent job. Some may be fortunate enough that the center that they are training at offers them a permanent position, but this will not happen for everyone.

When should I start applying for jobs? You should wait until you make nine months to a year at your training center or even sooner. We recommend that time so that you can have the experience to add to your resume.

Some say "I keep trying and I get no calls". Don't give up, the competition is stiff. People young and old are looking for jobs. Keep at it, you will get something soon.
